Edward Thomas in Words and Music Concert 5th March 7pm Steep church

Friends of Steep Church, in conjunction with the HM Collective (a local organisation committed to promoting quality performing arts in Hampshire and beyond) are holding a concert and recital of the works of Edward Thomas, the famous Steep poet, in All Saints’ Church at 7pm on Saturday 5th March. This will coincide with the Edward Thomas Fellowship weekend.

Doors will open at 6.30pm on the Saturday evening for refreshments before the performance.

Some of Edward Thomas’s poems have been set to music and others will be read by Dalgit Nagra, the award-winning poet and Chair of the Royal Society of Literature.

Music will be performed by the Aurora Trio together with John Lofthouse (baritone) and Hiroko Nagatomo-Banks (piano). We are also delighted to welcome our talented, young, local violinist, Alexandra Peel, who will be playing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ well-known romance, The Lark Ascending.

Tickets at £15 (including refreshments) are available on-line from TicketSource (click the direct link here www.ticketsource.co.uk/hm-collective) or locally from One Tree Books.

This will be a unique and exciting event for Steep and we really hope to see you there.

And if you feel able to help us further by providing a plate of canapé-style, bite-sized nibbles to accompany the refreshments for the concert, please email  Phyllida Barnes at phyllbarnes@btconnect.com who will be delighted to hear from you!
