Rev Canon John Owen giving his final sermon at Steep church

John Owen’s final service in the benefice took place at All Saints’ church Steep on a sunny Sunday morning on 24th April 2022.

The small twelfth century church was packed with parishioners young and old, from Steep, Froxfield and Privett.

The Steep church choir was considerably increased by members of the Froxfield Choir.

Refreshments were served in the churchyard after the service.

It was a truly memorable occasion for all who attended.

Opening the present

“It’s a picture of Steep church with two small figures standing outside…….”

The gift was a painting of Steep church with two small figures of John and Jane in the foreground.

It had been beautifully painted by artist Louise Banks, a former resident of Steep.
